How Cosmos Works in Classrooms

Assign topics about source material

These would be key themes of the source material you would typically discuss in class.

Students pair up to debate

Classroom management tools allow you to see who is active and paired up with one another.

Students debate topics for 10 mins

Cosmos created a new debate format called bullet debating that is fast, fun, easy to approach, and requires to preparation.

The Bullet Format

The Bullet Format

Students are given 2 minutes to prepare

Students make 30 second opening remarks (introduction)

Each side then gets 3 minutes to present their main points.

When one side is speaking, their time counts down.

The other side can interrupt at any moment, which pauses the speaker's time and starts their own timer.

Their timer will keep running until the first side interrupts or their time runs out.

After both sides use up their time, each gets 30 seconds to make closing remarks (conclusion).

Every Student Gets Feedback

Every Student Gets Feedback

After every debate students see an analysis of the arguments made and get feedback on what they did well and how they could have done better.

Track Student Activity & Performance

As a teacher you can review summaries of every debate your students did and see the feedback given to them.

Get class Performance Summaries

After your class completes a task, such as debating a key theme, Cosmos gives you an analysis on how your students performed, who is at risk, and what ideas you should review as a class together to address weaknesses.

Instead of lecturing students, 10 minute long 1v1 debates make reviewing ideas in source material fun and competitive.

Lighten

Teacher workload

Sit back while your students keep each other engaged while Cosmos tracks their progress and reports any issues.

Learn

Your students strengths & weaknesses

Get class summaries and insights on what ideas your students focus on, how well they understand source material, any misconceptions your students have, and what your students could do to improve.
